If someone put a gun to my head and walked me to an ATM they'd get about 40$ out of me. I load it up with money instantly from the app as needed so there is never a large amount of money in it. I use Revolut primarily as it allows me to have as many debit cards as I want linked to one account, so I have one in each wallet. If someone steals my walking around wallet I cancel that credit card and debit card and lose whatever local currency I had on me. The only one that's a problem to lose is the passport one and that's because of the passport. My passport holder has a debit card, a credit card, my passport and 100$ US cash and also stays at my accommodation hidden separately from my other wallet. That stays in my bag on travel days and in my accommodation hidden somewhere. My normal wallet that I use everyday back home which has all the things a normal wallet has, an ID card, multiple debit and credit cards and 100$ US. It has a 1 credit card, 1 debit card, my US driver's license and whatever local currency I need for the day. My wallet is the Minix 2.0 - the pictures make it look bigger than it is ahahaha - it is almost as big as a conventional credit card and as thick as 8 cards (and due to its elasticity, it can also hold 8 cards - but I only carry 4)Ģ wallets plus a passport holder with card slots.ġ really slim wallet that goes with me in a front pocket. You'll definitely attract unwanted attention, but also, people will see you have lots of money so they'll raise all their prices (in markets and bazaars and the like) - you can get creative, using socks, shoe, hat, money belt, other pockets, various backpack pockets, etc That said, I also never carry all my money (if I ever carry cash money) in one place - not just to deter pick pockets, but also, if you ever whip out ALL your cash money at once. It is also super small so the ''travel time'' is greater than a conventional wallet, as it sits at the very bottom of my pocket, and by being extremely thin, it doesn't create a bulge or make it obvious The wallet itself has pretty good grip, so it isn't as easy to slip out of pocket, it'll pull the pocket and pocket fabric, so I'll definitely feel if someone is trying to take it from me. Now the line extends to business and cargo pants as well as pickpocket-proof shirts and shorts for men and women.I have an extremely thin minimalistic wallet that I keep in my front pocket and my pants have a sort of double-layer pocket, so I put them in the layer closest to my body, which is also a little tighter. It's that fear that led Adam Rapp to create P^Cubed, Pick Pocket Proof Travel Pants in 2011. My father-in-law had the money belt stolen off his waist in Rome not long ago, and a friend my age found himself wallet-less and miserable this past winter after a classic bump-and-run grab in Puerto Vallarta. I'll admit I've never been pickpocketed but I do keep hearing about travelers who are. What better way to test the concept than on a journey of many thousands of miles with multiple locations involving countless crowded public squares (I'm keeping details of the trip a surprise until my story runs this summer)? For a couple years, I've been hearing about "pickpocket-proof" shirts and pants from a company called Clothing Arts. I told you about finding the best luggage for serious travel. My recent jet-set trip for ForbesLife magazine required gear to match the occasion, both in terms of functionality and high style.
